How I wish this book had been available when I first started having erosions!
This book really is a fantastic and comprehensive guide to living with recurrent corneal erosions, essential reading for everyone who has them, their families, and I wish eye doctors would read it too.
It covers treatments, prevention, dealing with medical professionals, explaining the condition to friends/family/work, psychological help, eye health and what you can do to deal with the pain. As well as all the practical tips and advice, it's so helpful to read it and know I am not alone. It's very easy to read and there are lots of inspiring success stories.
Twenty years ago I started having painful eye episodes in the morning, that got worse with time, and the doctors I saw had no explanation for what was happening and their treatments didn't work. It really overtook my life at times and I felt a lot of despair. Fast forward years of painful (and in some cases, unnecessary) treatments, I did eventually find a cure (in my case, PRK) but I was warned that they might come back, which is one of my biggest fears in life. Now I know what I will do if that happens, I feel so much better.
Thank you so much Louise Deacon for writing this book and helping fellow recurrent corneal erosion sufferers all over the world.Lindsey MountfordRead more -
Finding this book has made such a difference in my life, it’s difficult to express . I thought I was alone with what was happening to me and I had no one who understood.
This book has given me hope that there are things that can actually be done rather than the, “just keep using your eye drops” advice that I have been getting from my Doctor. There are many different options to try so you can find what works for you.
Another thing I have found most useful is how to advocate for myself and find a Doctor who is an expert. Before I read it I didn’t have the confidence or knowledge to be able to do this.
The writing itself is clear and friendly, it comes across that the author has suffered from erosions and knows what you must be feeling. I liked that it is not just practical medical advice but also looks at the psychological impact. How to get help and understanding from family, work and friends.
really hope that it will get into the hands of medical professionals, I am going to give it to my doctor!!PearsbearsRead more -
This is a great book! There is very little information out there about this condition, but this book hits the right spot. Practical, reassuring help, which gives clear, well laid out advice without getting too technical. RCE is a very painful and debilitating condition and this book gives clear advice about how to treat and relieve it. Well written and well laid out.
